why is everyone acting like circle people has no right to be taken down? its days were numbered from conception, they dont even own most of the stuff on the channel. anyone who is honestly surprised by this turn of events has zero foresight

Apparently they had word from Youtube that the videos were okay and fell under fair use. Im pretty sure Poised stated this a comment under one of the reddit threads

even if youtube said it was fine, they have a right to change their mind about anything on their platform at any time. may be kinda crappy, but it’s not unreasonable, considering circle people uploads are basically other people’s gameplay w/ pirated music in the background

I think the main issue is that there is no way of contacting or disputing all of this. So they dont even have the opportunity to try and put the channel right (demonitise it) If they did change their terms. Wouldn't they be required to inform them of an update in policy?

My hunch is that someone loosely affiliated with or low on the totem pole at YouTube gave them vague “eh you’ll probably be fine” language and they took it as being safe. There’s no world in which osu! vids actually fall under fair use.
