Last night, Chairwoman Hendrickson recognized January as Radon Action Month in Gwinnett. At least 1 in 15 homes in the United States have elevated levels of radon, which is the leading cause of lung cancer death for non-smokers.

Marcela loves using her Spanish heritage to share safety messages with a growing and diverse community through radio, TV interviews, and presentations. She recently was able to introduce Spanish-speaking residents to fire safety programs. Thank you for all your hard work.

They also cleared about 450 square feet of privet, an invasive plant that grows in the wild and disrupts the ecology of the environment. Thank you to all of the volunteers who participated to help us keep Gwinnett a safe, livable, and healthy community.

This past weekend, the Department of Water Resources teamed up with 27 volunteers, including Commissioner Watkins, and collected more than 700 pounds of trash, large debris, and tires at our MLK Day of Service event.

Last week, Gwinnett County achieved recertification as a Green Community at the Platinum Level by . The Green Communities program is a voluntary certification program that helps local governments implement measures that will reduce their environmental impact.
