    Even with a UK-EU FTA in Dec 2020, there will be more paperwork, eg Rules of Origin to be complied with. Mitsubishi Materials, which has a copper processing base in UK is concerned by increased bureaucracy, so building up inventory on the continent.

    FT editorial: UK will need broader deal than Canada’s free trade agreement. Government needs to outline economic impact of Canada-style agreement and Australian-style fallback. What business requires now is transparency.

    It would be helpful if someone from the Government spelt out where in the Withdrawal Agreement and/or the Political Declaration it thinks the EU made these commitments. By my reading, the WA clearly implies there *will* be checks GB to NI

    Scrap the easily avoided double taxation and replace with the currently untaxed windfall gains on primary residence. Defer settlement to death. I wrote this idea up here

    It's the same with the lobby briefing earlier today, the government are doing unconventional things to start the fights they want, and nobody else has quite worked out how to respond to that.
