The things you come across in the woods! Discarded kettle in wet woodland near Portadown Co. Armagh. Dumped years ago but in a strange way it kinda blends in.

Lesser Celandine flowers are starting to peep out from the hedgerows here in Co Armagh. The fresh leaves are lovely too. 12C+ at 9am today. Unseasonably mild.

I just had to stop and take a picture. Winter Heliotrope along a country road near Portadown Co. Armagh. "Petasites fragrans" lives up to its name, giving off a lovely sweet scent. Certainly brightened up a dull winters day.

This avenue of Oak trees at the back of my local bog is always a delight to walk through. The habitat is so different to the surrounding Willow and Birch. A favourite place indeed.

Willow gets blown over, submerged, broken and twisted, but somehow carries on growing. In the process it makes some wonderful shapes. Brackagh Reserve Co. Armagh today.

My favourite butterfly moment of 2019. Probably. Happy Christmas to everyone out there.

Not my normal fare but here are a few images of Dublin's waterfront on Monday evening. The first is a view up river towards the Customs House; the second looks downstream towards the docks and the 3rd is somewhere in the middle. 10s exposures to capture this much light. Worth it?

Mistletoe with just a hint of golden winter sunshine. In an old orchard garden in Portadown Co. Armagh. I've read that Mistletoe is rare on the island of Ireland . Growing on two apple trees at this location.

The natural architecture of these secret places is normally hidden from view. Not a straight angle in sight.

At this time of year you can peer into the "bones" of the wet woodland.

Scentless Mayweed must be virtually indestructible. November and the stubble field is still carpeted in these big daisies. A wild flower that just keeps on giving.

Despite frosty nights and cold windy days, I'm still searching for some summer colour: Cut-leaved Cranesbill and Common Field Speedwell from the stubble field earlier today.

Golden yellow female catkins on Bog Myrtle; yesterday in Peatlands park Co. Armagh. Very late or very early but definitely not for November.
