Toy Story 3 is still the only sequel to ever win the Animated Frature Oscar, crazily enough. I think there’s a general hesitancy to award a sequel that everyone liked but few would consider a high point of the series.

Agreed. My worry is that there isn't much consensus on the alternative, meaning the vote could still split enough for Pixar loyalists to prevail.

As someone who was somewhat underwhelmed by TS3 but adored TS4, this has been the most baffling awards race development, second only to APOLLO 11's shutout from the Documentary Feature Oscar race.
