I hear this line a lot, sometimes from other critics, and yes — it's good to review everything on its terms. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't criticise a film for being limited in scope, ambition or courage.pic.twitter.com/pAguAD1qNV

There’s material for an entire dissertation in the line “gay enough for me”.pic.twitter.com/ngA3Y4lyVh
Anna is gay Gay enough for me The sun hits her yellow house It’s almost like a sign from God
I heard the movie lies about events. That should be points dropped.
I mean, most biopics fudge with facts to an extent. But there are wider omissions at play here.
So Brian May did get his sanitized Queen biopic he wanted all along. Good for him. Shame on him too.
It’s such a fine balance, I think. I certainly want to read from people who judge films on their own terms and tire of endless polemicism, but likewise I want attention paid to shortcomings that gesture outward. So tricky.
Definitely. There is a fine line between being culturally critical and simply prescriptive, and we probably all cross it here and there, particularly in the current political climate. But I'll always take a viewer who questions too much over one who questions too little.
A queer man left that story out? That’s disappointing
You’ve possibly covered this, but this is Imitation Game Part 2 righr? That had a leaked script where sexuality was explicit, that was cut due to the fears of producers (if I remember)
I don't know about the leaked script, but yes, I think the problems with that film are equivalent.
