Here’s a radical idea: Let’s stop arresting people for smoking marijuana and start arresting the crooks at Wells Fargo and Wall Street who have caused so much economic pain to millions of Americans.

Every American, regardless of income, should have the opportunity to get the education they need to thrive. We must move to make public colleges and universities tuition-free across the nation.

Rep. Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, yesterday attacked "the fraud of socialism." Really? I wasn't aware that it was "socialism" that lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and got us into a horrific war that we should never have started.

Is it "radical" to demand that all Americans have health care, that billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, that workers earn at least $15 an hour and that we transform our energy system in order to combat climate change? I don't think so.

There's no one more disappointed that passed than I am. But that doesn't mean we give up the fight for economic, social, racial & environmental justice. We fight harder. We organize, mobilize & hold those who made promises accountable. The political revolution continues...

This is a new low for our government. OPM suggesting that the nearly 80,0000 workers whose lives have been impacted by the shutdown “trade” services in exchange for partial payments is insulting and wrong. Americans deserve better.

“Dishonest populism” like FDR, who called for a Second Bill of Economic Rights that included the right to a job with a living wage and an education? I mean, if we’re invoking “electoral success”...

These people hate democracy — they cannot stand the idea of a contested primary allowing voters to vigorously review Democratic candidates’ records. They want a smoke-filled conference room where elites select a donor-approved puppet nominee. In short, they want an oligarchy.

Instead of focusing on what's needed to get a bill signed into law, we should focus on passing gold standard bills through the House first & negotiate with the GOP from a position of strength, not weakness. The House rule puts up roadblocks for good bills to pass the House

I want to congratulate the House for holding hearings for the first time on Medicare for all. I’m confident the results will show that Medicare for all is the way forward if we want to guarantee heath care to all people in a cost-effective way.

By passing a bold progressive agenda through the House we can negotiate with the Senate and Trump from a position of strength, instead of negotiating with ourselves. If they don't agree then the American people understand exactly what we stand for & what they are against.

What we need is the House to scrap the PayGo rule to make it easier for it to pass . a , a , universal childcare and a progressive agenda without the need for CBO to say that it is deficit neutral or a waiver. (more to come)

Don't conflate the House rule with the statute - both should be scrapped. The House, the Senate & the White House all need to be in agreement in order to repeal the statute. But the House can scrap the rule with zero unintended consequences. (more...)

I love, admire & highly respect , but this is 100% inaccurate. It's absurd to suggest that if the House GOP CutGo rule isn't replaced with , Medicare will get automatically cut by the White House. That's not how it works. (thread to follow)

A few weeks ago, I joined youth activists in a specific demand for a Green New Deal Committee. It had 3 simple elements: 1. No fossil fuel money on climate cmte 2. Offer solutions for impacted communities 3. Draft sample All 3 were rejected as “too controversial.”
