If you want to have civil discussions on Twitter, it is important to treat other scientists like human beings. Otherwise you are normalising this kind of behaviour. Those who sit back and say nothing are legitimising the status quo.

To me it's about recognizing that different opinions are a good thing bc they challenge us and move science forward. I see it as complementarity rather than adversarial. But many researchers unfortunately don't... It's a loss for science! Diversity of thoughts is key to progress!
