Happy to see 's paper "A practical guide to methodological considerations in the controllability of structural brain networks" just out in Journal of Neural Engineering:

An excerpt from my new book « How we learn », on the 1st pillar of learning: attention modulates what we perceive and learn. With kudos to my mentor Mike Posner, attention pioneer, still very active in studying how brain connections change with training.

I encourage you to reflect on who has played an important role in your human and intellectual growth, perhaps when you didn't even realize it. Mentorship is powerfully important, especially in a young person's development. Thank you to all who give their time in this way.

ATTENTION!!!! EGI EEG system users: consider signing a letter regarding the plan for Philips to close down the manufacture of EGI EEG systems in Eugene Oregon. See: Please retweet as widely as possible! 🤓

I think 's tweet gets at a bigger issue: individuals can't possibly be experts in so many things. Maybe it's time to pull back and build/rely on teams of experts instead of fostering expectations that "a scientist" is good at everything required to do their science

I collected some free resources for learning computational neuroscience on my website. Please feel free to share with others and to send me suggestions.

Might there be a theory as to how organisms are dynamically stable? If mammals model dynamics using piece-wise linear functions, then we know that almost all square matrices are invertible so an inverse exists locally. cc: , , ,

I'm thinking about putting together a document with links to lots of good, freely available resources for learning comp neuro. What would everyone suggest? Top of my head, I know about the Gerstner textbook, INCF training spaces, and notes just posted. What else?

“If you’re a philosopher of science, you probably don’t take Popper’s philosophy seriously. But if you’re...a scientist, there is a pretty good chance that you think you agree with Karl Popper. I am here to explain to you that no, you probably do not”

Today I will be teaching my undergrad course "How to build a brain from scratch" for the 2nd year running. I've put the materials online - include a document with all lecture slides and notes, which is about as long as a decent novel. Enjoy!
