I taught my child that if there is a problem, you have to face it and try to solve it. Your approach sounds pathetic, but in my opinion, it is not. You are trying to sacrifice yourself with the absolution of your kids?
I taught my children, that when evil comes, you fight it. You don't let it happen from your armchair. Many dads died fighting evil, they still do today. It's a white privilege to believe you can struggle without risks of dying.
BTW, most ethical and religious authorities don't consider it as suicide.
