Here’s text of the Manchin resolution to censure Trump. It is NOT privileged. This means that Manchin would need to get an agreement from McConnell to get a vote, something that is highly unlikely. While Manchin could use his power to try to force a vote, it still would be hard

I can safely say that in 22 years of being a political journalist, I've never experienced a day like today. No.10 sources now insisting that political editors like myself "are not banned, they are just not invited".

Schiff's closing argument in the Trump impeachment trial was one for the ages. Would not surprise me if it's taught someday as the seminal opposition speech from this era in presidential (and Republican party) history.

Senators should have insisted on a fair trial with documents and witnesses. They chose not to. Some argue, let the election decide — But that argument is unpersuasive when the President is trying to cheat in 2020.

Schiff: "We urge you in the face of overwhelming evidence of the president's guilt and knowing that, if left in office, he'll continue to seek foreign interference in the next election, to vote to convict on both articles of impeachment and to remove from office Donald J. Trump."

My kids tell their friends I've spent the last 30 years in prison instead of working for Republican campaigns. Spares them embarrassment.

I was on the phone with my mother tonight. She retired from teaching 23 years ago. She wanted to know where the picket lines were in Halton this week so she could show support. 'Jerry, you can't let Ford win, public education is too important!' 'Don't worry mom, we've got this!'

Fareed, you once dropped a comment about how studying Canada would be too boring. I will not argue that Canadian politics are exciting, only that they are no more boring—and lately, no less conflicted—than America’s politics. I assume your apology and accept it. 🙏

Third, we have a wild card your system doesn’t have: the vote of non-confidence threat which, if successful, dissolves that parliament and sparks a whole new federal election. Just imagine that! I could go on.

Second, we have more than 2 parties (6 last time!), and often have a minority government situation in which the government must find votes among the other parties to support each bill to succeed. So we have plenty of ways we are forced to compromise and find consensus.

You said that in Canada, whoever wins the majority doesn’t have to negotiate or compromise, and can push their agenda through. First, even in a majority situation, we still have what’s called Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition as well as the other parties who may present obstacles.

Thanks for correcting your error about “paternity leave” in Canada. It’s more accurately just “parental leave” though. Unfortunately, you made another error this week about Canada when you discussed our parliamentary system.
