    I am stepping down from the challenge since life has gotten very busy this last month. I am still going to do gamedev work but I won’t be able to share stuff frequently enough for the challenge. I’m still cheering for the people who are going strong! :D

    Days 15 and 16 of : I started a Blender course since I need to learn the fundamentals to add 3D art to my game. Learned to navigate the UI and I started to block out the geometry of a lightsaber! Shoutout to for their introduction series!

    Day 14 of - I ended up pausing my progress for a few weeks but I’m back! I spent my time today creating a high level concept document to help me focus my design on a few core elements.

    Tony Hawk is 51. He's been skating... well forever. He's an icon. How does he do something new? Something he's wanted to try forever? Just like all of us: over and over and over again until he can. There's deep truth in this. Meditate on it today.

    Hit a bit of a snag with the challenge and have been absent for a while. I plan on returning to the challenge closer to the end of the month with a refactored plan of attack. :)

    Days 12 and 13 of - I jumped back into shaders where I messed with some basic surface shaders. Hopefully I'll have some fun effects to share in the future! I also started refreshing my trig and linear algebra so that I can make sense of all these transforms.

    Day 11 of - I decided to experiment a bit with nav meshes and scene creation without following any tutorials. You learn a lot by just poking around!

    Day 10 of - I began learning my way around Blender. It looks a bit different from the last time I messed around with it years ago. I also started to brainstorm potential mechanics for my tower defense… prototyping should be a lot of fun!

    Day 9 of - I finished the holoman glitch shader tutorial from Unity, this time with fewer bugs. I’m tempted to continue down the rabbit hole that is shaders. 🤔

    Day 8 of - Today was my first day messing with shaders! Turns out there's a lot to learn with them, and I had a few interesting glitches along the way (as shown below). I look forward to completing this lesson tomorrow.

    Day 7 of - Today was fairly low-key. I worked a bit on my C# skills and created an art inspiration board for my tower defense game. I’m starting to get a rough idea of the art style I want to explore! P.S. hand painting textures looks difficult 🙃

    Yea I’m a physicist by education and do neuro now....but do I still remember the essential fundamentals of physics? No. But can I pick up a thermo or quantum mechanics book and quickly get back up to speed? Also no.

    Day 6 of - Today was a relatively simple day. I polished up the box shooter project by adding a second level and linking them together into a WebGL build for submission. I also provided feedback to fellow students on the same project. Now onto the next course!

    For day 5 of I added UI elements, target spawning, and animations to my box shooter project.

    For day 4 of I began work on the box shooter tutorial and learned the basics of scripting in Unity. I got a projectile to fire from the character and messed around with some image effects.

    For day 3 of I continued with the Unity course where I created a small rollerball game. It introduced player controls, physics, and managing multiple game scenes. Next up in the course is a box shooter prototype to get started with Unity scripting.

    Day 2 of - I switched gears and dove into some Unity tutorials from a class on Coursera. Since I’m starting from scratch, I thought this would be a good way to learn the basics. I managed to implement a simple solar system scene!

    For Day 1 of I managed to get a lot of the generic admin work out of the way: I set up a Trello board, created the Unity Project, integrated Github, and started my game design document. Most importantly, I decided on the type of game: tower defense!
