Proud to co-sponsor legislation to repeal the statute, which will enable the Congress to enact progressive policy solutions to our most pressing public policy challenges!

I was sent to Congress to be bold, unbought and unbossed. Today, I’m proud to cosponsor legislation to finally address a real problem that has stalled the progressive agenda. More robust than a rule, this bill will get to the heart of disparities promulgated by the statute

Here’s my honest question : Would any of you give your Econ 101 students a good grade if they proposed PAYGO as a policy restricting government’s flexibility during downturns & ability to make long term investments?

Why should a Democratic majority operate on the basis of a Republican ideology that even the Republicans don't believe in. Reject as a House rule, then repeal the statute.

In order for to go into effect, it needs to pass the House. If some 18 Dems vote no, it fails. The vote will take place on Thursday. Will enough progressives have the courage to vote no on the first roadblock to , & ? Let's see.

Tomorrow I will also vote No on the rules package, which is trying to slip in . PAYGO isn’t only bad economics, as explains; it’s also a dark political maneuver designed to hamstring progress on healthcare+other leg. We shouldn’t hinder ourselves from the start.

Message to House Dems: Do NOT vote for “PayGo” in the rules package. It’s a brainless Republican idea that tax cuts or mandatory spending increases must be offset by tax increases or mandatory spending cuts. Totally disables fiscal policy.

PayGo would be a terrible policy that unilaterally disarms the incoming Democratic majority’s ability to govern. Rather than pursue cuts to programs we support, we should stand on our principles and argue that our policies would lead to economic growth

As far as I can tell only and have come out against PAYGO. Left MUST stand united because PAYGO is a trojan horse to killing all progressive legislation. Your turn:

I will be voting NO on the Rules package with . It is terrible economics. The austerians were wrong about the Great Recession and Great Depression. At some point, politicians need to learn from mistakes and read economic history.

This is how absurd PAYGO is: We campaigned in the Better Deal for $1 trillion in infrastructure spending over 10 years. Under PAYGO, if after 6 years that plan wld produce a deficit, it would not be in order — even if in 10 years it wld create 16 million jobs and revenue growth!
