Didn’t Barrett come from 7th? She’s already had to recuse herself from handling some 7th circuit petitions during conference...how does that work now? I guess a few of the other justices covered circuits they came from so I’m assuming it’s a non issue that I’m overthinking.

Yea, Katie, good question but as long as they were not involved in a case, recusal is not required. Note that Kagan sat in on ACA cases although she was involved with Obama admin rollout...and that was proper. This arrangement should work fine IMHO.

@AdoniasRdeCNeto O que pode implicar esse rearranjo nos recursos que chegam à Suprema Corte dos tribunais de circuito?

To my mostly ignorant eyes the only circuits without a "home town" connection to their justices are the 6th, 8th, and 9th. Do Kavanaugh and/or Kagan have ties there though? (I fully realize not every circuit can have one on a court of only 9 people.)

Not that I'm aware of. I always assumed Kagan's assignment to the 9th was a sign of Roberts' trust in her.

Sotomayer out and Kavanaugh in for the 6th Circuit. Just as election issues heat up here. Lovely.

Thomas only gets one assignment that speaks volumes.
