I’m delighted that the Morrison Government’s most recent reforms to private health insurance have passed the Australian Senate. These reforms that passed the senate tonight mean that dependents can stay on their parents policy up until the age of 31 years old.
Insurers will also be able to offer policies with no age limit for dependents with a disability. These are great outcomes for Australian families, young people and people with a disability.
The Morrison Government is making Private Health Insurance simpler and more affordable. Our reforms to date have delivered the lowest average premium changes in 20 years.
Private health insurance is an important part of that system. Australian Government reforms mean private health insurance will continue to offer Australian families affordable choice and flexibility in their health care.
The legislation uses the narrow definition of disability that the NDIS uses. We all know that NDIS does not cover all disabilties and health conditions.
