The first case of novel coronavirus infection has been confirmed in Victoria. The patient, a man from Wuhan, flew to Melbourne from Guandong on 19 January. The patient is now in isolation in a hospital in Victoria.

The Smart Traveller advice has been upgraded to “Do not travel to Hubei province of China”. Victorian and Commonwealth authorities will be undertaking “contact tracing” for passengers who travelled on the same flight the man flew to Melbourne.
