The former is an illness that occurs at no fault of the sufferer, much like cancer. The reason the tax on cigarettes is so high is because those that smoke often require a lot of healthcare in later years as a direct result of that smoking, which was a personal choice.

A lot of ignorance in the replies, but unfortunately everyone suddenly finds their PhD in eating disorders when tax payer money is involved. A very good decision that will save the government millions in the long-run through early intervention + more free beds in public hospitals

Excellent timing since the elderly are dying of malnutrition, which is a form of eating disorder, however not self imposed but forced on them by greedy aged care facilities. Better than nothing, which is what they are getting - nothing.
