A big factor in the 79% decrease in low dose overdoses is because since becoming prescription only GPs prescribing will prescribe Panadeine forte which contains 30mg of codeine rather than nurofen+ (8mg codeine-used to be otc) as the higher dose is PBS subsidised.

So I may only require a low dose for short term pain management but a GP prescribes a considerably higher dose as that one is PBS subsidised. This could have unintended consequences with addiction. It’s a great start but we need to do more

I would look closer at the result - how do you prove the cause/effect. Change has forced people to needlessly see doctors for pain pills (which they could still go overdose on anyway)
