Rotating the oscillator, easy. But I did burn my table slightly :-}pic.twitter.com/MgQ23ICbrr

Removal of the FPGA wasn't great. Solder balls weren't left very even.pic.twitter.com/MrzF8lsvFv

My reflow wasn't great. You can see the chip "jump" twice. I didn't have any reference for the exact position I needed the chip to be in. (Adding an overlay of the initial placement to the HDMI microscope screen might be useful...)pic.twitter.com/AXArU0GCDp

A lot of the outside balls look okay. But there is one problem area near the A1 corner, very possible that there is a short between some inner balls.pic.twitter.com/2ydmIrAHDo

Probably not an efficient way to do this... but lets give it a shot. Usually the balls are on the IC not the other way around....
Note: we do need one ball on the IC since that pad is now covered up on the PCB and replaced with a wire.pic.twitter.com/Nfbe8ISvOg

Can't afford xray inspection? Just use 30 micron enamel copper wire >_< Feed wire between the balls to validate there are no shorts. Additional feature: if you find a short, you can clear it by _CAREFULLY_ wiggling the wire while reflowing.pic.twitter.com/ChIkEaq1Xi

Is that a Hakko FA-430? One of them is on the shopping list for my new lab. How do you like it?
-
Just the Nozzle/tube is from Hakko. I've got a Purex Fume Cube that I picked up for cheap, then bought some new filters for. Works really well. It is a tad loud though.

Buddy, my Friday night was similar - designing the signal generator module of our system
Cheers!
