    Surprised this sparked something. It is important to know that things were better in someways, even if there was larger racial inequity and that is still a problem. It can be better again with greater equity and a more ethical response to our past wrongs. We need to demand it.

    I am fifty or so and you are completely right. School was cheap, housing was cheap, gas was cheap and the minimum wage was the same pre-decades of inflation. We had it much easier. We even had enough interest on savings that compounded interest did something.

    That’s interesting to me because the older-style SF community has a very high incidence of hyperlexia, self-taught early reading, inept small talk, and face blindness. A common reaction to finding fandom: “OMG they’re like me—I can *talk* to them!”

    Guy on the radio (in Spain) the other day was talking about hyperlexia being related to face blindness and some speech issues. I also learned to read v early and have slight faceblindness issues

    For those keeping score: ’s last town hall was February of 2017 — afterwards she went on CNN and lied to that those in attendance weren’t from her district. They had all been ID’ed at the door, and said they were on video.

    I knew wasn’t fulfilling her duties as a Senator, but I had no idea she’s never held a town hall in 20+ years! A trademark of the : 1) Get elected by the people. 2) Ignore the people. 3) Buy your next election with dark money. 4) Repeat.
