Most of the weapons used in school shootings are stolen from parents and guardians. One of the solutions can be to hold owner of the weapons accountable as accessory to the crime.

Yes and yes. Tack on huge monetary fines for not having safety mechanisms on firearms. And -- Schools are reticent to address kids w/abnormal behaviors due to per diem funding. Counselors must visit these homes quarterly. Internal school
#SystemsandProcesses need revisiting.

Im onboard, tell me where to sign up. I have excellent diagnostic skills and worked for mhmr with school aged clients in the Rio Grand valley a few yrs. A big issue was severe bullying, also medicating them as young as 3-4 for ADHD, etc. No one really knows long term effects
-
Bring back recess so they can get energy out and learn social and leadership skills. Didn’t have these issues years ago when this was a daily routine
-
Yes. I believe 4 or more mini recesses would help. Their attention spans are limited, take a 15+ min recess to run around gym or yard every hour and a half. Good exercise, and helps relieve excess energy and boredom.
-
I definitely believe there is a correlation between lack of recess and the inability to focus and concentrate in the classroom.
-
Yes, I saw it with my own children and then visited mental health clients in their schools. They grow very bored in an 8 hour day filled with academics.

Adam Lanza graduated from Sandy Hook 9-10 years before he shot up that school. How does this stop non-student shooters?

I whipped every body I fought all the way through 12 grades. I played football & left several opponents unable 2 get up after the play was over. Other people who thought they wanted 2 fight me changed their mind after a few stern spoken words. Was I a potentially violent person?
-
Exactly it doesn’t translate plus it’s basically going to label every person that ever got into a school fight. Which a small part of fighting in High School is normal, doesn’t mean they are going to shoot up school!!! No thought follow thru on this

These ridiculous tests have been going on far longer than he has been in office. They aren’t his doing.
-
And they aren't his undoing either....

If you keep talking about how it catches violent students, you may stigmatize any student who’s mental illness is diagnosed through this program.
-
There can be safeguards to insure this doesn’t happen. There needs to be a greater system of support and education in dealing with mental health illnesses.
-
I know. I just hope they remember to create safeguards against it. People are so focused on the school shooter issue lately I'm afraid they won't think of any other problem.
-
I agree that there should be advocates who have the interests of the kids represented. I’d be glad to take part in the program. I’m the mom of a child with mental health illnesses.I’ve advocated for her all through school. She graduates next week!

Profiling people based on “possible criminality” smacks of phrenology and Statism. It may impinge on privacy rights also? Government is to punish CRIME, not to be Big Brother or Nanny. Just my gut reaction.
