There have been 56 school shootings since Abbott has been Governor. SIX in Texas alone. What has he done to prevent #SantaFeHighSchool? #ThoughtAndPrayers. That's it. Now he wants to act like he's interested in solutions?
This is CYA politics at it's finest.

56? Six in Texas? That's news to me. Source please?

He's been in office since 2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States …

I have to wait until I'm on my computer to view this link. But I don't think school shootings are the Governor's fault. I think we need to end the NEA and public sector unions, give control back to local communities. Put God back in the classroom.

It doesn’t help when he’s lining his pockets w/ NRA monies.

Maybe parents could take responsibility for their offspring? If you raise a monster and it bites somebody (before it's a legal adult) then you are responsible for the damages. Some parents might focus on raising their children right if that was the law.

Just bypass the actual root of the problem and go straight to destroying the very foundation of our country with the leftist agenda of oppressing the freedoms of innocent Americans? I suppose that is one way to go... Certainly would not be my choice. But you do you okay?

Why are you giving away a shotgun on your website? https://www.gregabbott.com/shotgun/ pic.twitter.com/alLXWGY2FF

Children should first learn from home about God and the 10 commandments. This could carry on when they go to school. Most of the young children are not God fearing until someone starts shooting in their school. This needs to start at home. God bless America.

And be supported again in schools. Why aren't history classes allowed to mention and discuss the devoutness of our forefathers? It gives a foundational context to our history.
-
Great question. Here's your answer. The founding fathers weren't religious. Also the whole separation of church and state. Let me know if you have any other basic questions you need answered.

Are you still giving away guns? What the hell is wrong with you. And let me guess no background checks as long as someone's 18 they can have one? are they AR-15s? why not you obviously don't care about our children's lives!!! Shame on you. Just shame on you.

Talk to your children. Listen to your children. Get involved in their lives. Know what they are doing, how they are feeling, what's in the online stuff. Spend time with them.

All the programs in the world won't make a difference if this is still your guiding philosophy.https://twitter.com/GregAbbott_TX/status/659427797853536256 …

Guns. The problem is that people no longer view guns as a tool, and view them as a measure of their manhood. The problem will never be solved if you don not include reasonable laws to protect against guns.

Mental health issues are not fixed overnight and are most likely never fixed. Willing teachers must be allowed to be armed to defend themselves and their students. Fighting back against a murderer with a firearm is much better than cowering in fear.
-
You realize this puts more children at harm not to mention law enforcement at harm. Adding guns makes it worse.pic.twitter.com/YuErS1cYJT

The data I have seen shows me that armed citizens deter crime not increase it. When Texas instituted concealed carry, overall crime went down. I’m not suggesting teachers be police officers and pursue a murderer only that they have the ability to fight back when threatened.pic.twitter.com/8aBsgxQb7u

First off-if Clint were a teacher I'd totally go to that school and we'd worry about none of this. Second, I think what you're talking about are trained teachers, which would not be the reality. These are people who don't even get money for supplies
-
I’m not opposed to giving teachers training beyond the LTC permit. I am opposed to making them leave their carry firearms in the school parking lot instead of them carrying them on their person. I’m married to a retired teacher. My daughter is a teacher. Teachers rent from me.
-
You're extremely close to teachers and I can appreciate that but it confuses me that you would rather see guns put in the schools rather than guns pulled from the streets as the solution. This isn't an attack but a genuine question. Why?
-
I’ve never run over a gun on the street. They’re owned by law abiding citizens & criminals. How do you propose we take guns from criminals & law abiding citizens? I’m not giving mine up voluntarily. Armed people will have 2 take my guns. I predict bloodshed should this occur.
-
Well bloodshed is already happening so...Also how do you think every other country with gun control has done it? Also you didn't quite answer my question. You're also not accounting for the numerous accidents that have already happened with teachers and guns in schools.
