That’s nice, glad my taxes went up to help cover the bill. I actually pay them, and my tolls. Have a nice day everyone.

Message Texas is sending - Tolls are only for honest citizens. I can only assume it is the honest tax paying citizens of Texas who will ultimately pay these fees and fines.

The tolls are controlled by a private company from Spain. They get all royalties for the next 50 years. We were totally screwed on these things. Good on Texas. Now just make them free and watch the traffic start to actually move

This is where the old-fashioned toll booth is needed if there are going to be toll roads. That way, you HAVE to pay or you don’t get to drive on the road. Once again, honest citizens pay the price.

They are not erasing peoples toll usage. Only the excessive penalties and fines. Those are being capped st $48 a year so people with $5 in tolls dont receive a bill for $20k. Even the IRS caps penalties. Seems fair to do this

They are not erasing what people actually owe in tolls. They are erasing the ridiculous fees/fines imposed by the Spanish company. Someone with $10 in tolls should not receive a bill 2 years later for $20k. Doesn't that seem absurd to you?

Yes. The tolls are not being forgiven, just the absurd penalties imposed by the private company.https://twitter.com/KingBee0102/status/986992311421849600?s=19 …

Because the fines/fees imposed by the Spanish company are ludicrous. People will have $10 worth of tolls, never receive any communication, and then 2 years later will be slapped with a bill that says they owe $20k. It's ridiculous, that's why the forgiveness and penalty cap

I bet you can’t provide two documentations of this so called withdrawal without reason in the hundred thousand that occur a year , it’s set to a $20or40 withdrawal once under $10, not wanting a $0 cost tag is no reason for non payment. Don’t use the road, there’s free options!

It does happen. Happened to my mother. The tag isn't the issue. The penalties are. No one is escaping the money they actually owe for using the tolls, only the excessive fines. Even the IRS caps penalties. There's nothing wrong with this, should have been done from the beginning

So you say that happened, I highly doubt it. Once again you DO NOT have to use the TOLL road! It’s a premium for quick trip! STAY off if you’re trying to STEAL!

Considering they are erasing exorbitant fees and not the actual tolls, there is no theft taking place. Also, considering tax money funded these roads, you can't tell tax payers they dont have a right to use them. Do you work for them? Never met anyone this supportive of tolls

No I don’t work for them , I sell merchant service and commercial energy . But the toll lanes are not tax funded & it’s theft so if you’re going to steal stay off!
