How about mandating big businesses pay their share of taxes and not forcing citizens to cover their costs...

Business pay over 60% of all taxes collected in Texas. What is your definition of "fair?"
-
Of course they do. But corps pay the majority of taxes collected. Rich people buy more things, thus pay a higher amount in sales tax. Simple math. So I'm asking, what is "fair?" Making them pay 100% of revenue? The answer sure isn't taxing corporations to another state
-
First stop giving them tax breaks altogether...that's a fair assessment is it not? I also think a state income tax is something that needs to be looked at...the amount of revenue coming in from tourism and businesses isn't cutting it...we have some of the highest prop tax in US
-
A state income tax? Illinois, New York, and Connecticut are such success stories..

-
Depends on the corp tax rate and sales tax rate. We don't have income tax but an 8.25% sales tax and some property taxes upward of $15-20k a year for 3-4 bedroom homes...on a less than 1/2 acre lot. Silly

No. I am frustrated with the joke that the PUF operates under. My vote will go to the member who will address the issue

Fix education funding for Texas public school districts and you will fix the property tax problem. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out, Governor. Your proposed plan will kill growth and economic development in all Texas cities. One size does not fit all!

Hey, Greg, here is an idea — how about if the state grows up and admits that we need other revenue sources rather than homeowners? How about businesses?

I fed up with poverty level wages. Our great state needs to step up and raise the minimum wage to a livable wage.
