The state used to cover more than half the cost of funding schools; now it’s just 38%. Fixing school finance is real property tax relief.
Thanks! We're all excited to see how they fix school finances. This is exciting.
To quote Buddy Holly, "That'll be the day"
Thank you. But please leave TRS alone! Not fair that I paid into SS 20 years & will get NOTHING when I retire.
You are right, it's not fair to have to forgo SS benefits to keep even worse TRS benefits. Plank175 doesn't change that. Maybe it should.
Absolutely it should.
Plus many people who worked in the private sector and then want to be teachers (like me) can't work too long so as not to lose their SS.
But....but....what about school finance?
Schools spend & waste to much Money- always looking for more
No, they don't, unless the school board approves. The districts I taught 28 years in were frugal. The school board I'm now on is frugal.
That's why Round Rock TX thought they needed a 22 million indoor pool
I'll agree with you on that one! Big football stadiums are another thing I find irksom.
Yes I agree
I guess I've just been lucky with districts that aren't wasteful. My last one even won awards for excellent fund management.
Gov. We love you and the hard work you are doing for WORKING Texans
Sadly, my Republican leg and governor created this problem by cutting state ed spending and making you pay for it.
