Useful, but still the case that, even in-network, medical care is far more expensive than anywhere else in the world. Market won't fix it.

We have a system where costs are hidden by insurance, prices are impossible to find, and care is focused on profit more than health.

Good start but doesn't go NEARLY far enough. Make balance billing illegal. PERIOD! Uninsured & surprises pay same as lowest contracted rate.

An anecdote: took my son to a 24/7 private ER 3 months ago. Was croup, we waited an hour, and was billed $1500 because coded as class 4

That's in-network. That's outrageous. Also, the doctor and the radiologist (who reads an unnecessary x-ray) are independent contractors.

You can't sign this legislation and maintain the politically expedient position of supporting EMS, paramedics, EMTs and air medical crews

This legislation will specifically target them b/c of insurance company refusal to contract at reasonable rates w/ these types of providers

The fact is this circumstance exists for these providers b/c of insurance company failure to understand the economics. Why reward them?

The 'outrage' on this issue will be irrelevant when they aren't any providers to provide this care. This bill is short sighted and anti-pt.
