Retired teachers in Texas have not had a cost of living adjustment to their pensions in over 13 years. That is how the Texas GOP rewards teachers.

Your party has a super majority in Austin, if this has been a priority of your then why wasn’t it accomplished in the last session? The answer is because it is NOT a priority it’s just an empty election year promise you don’t intend to keep.

Goal? It should’ve been priority during your last 3
#TxLege sessions. You’re failure created crisis for retired tchrs. Show us how you’ll pay for it & I’ll take you serious. You also promised teachers$ix figures, yet NO plan 2 pay for it. Must be re-election time.#EmptyPromises -

Then why are you trying to get rid of coverage for pre exsisting conditions, medicare & cut public edu funding to pay for your tax bill? While you cut funding for environmental protection, trying to gut the endangered species protections? For your donors?https://twitter.com/SenateDems/status/1006572213590544386?s=19 …

This is exactly right! When the governor was injured/disabled, he sued & as of 2013 had received $6 Million and receives an increased amt each yr. That was his “preexisting conditions” coverage. Yet for Texans he cares so much about, he sues so we won’t be covered!

YOU should have done RIGHT by teachers and retired teachers the FIRST time. We called, sent letters, emailed and begged for HELP. YOU listened to the wrong people. YOU forgot that we are constituents too.

Why do retired teachers deserve special compensation from the state again?
-
Again?? When was the first time?
-
I would like to know as well. Retired teachers have NOT had a cost of living increase in years. I can't remember when yet the cost of living has increased as well as insurance costs.
