Giving you the right to fire your property tax appraiser is part of my property tax reform. If you don't like them, you can vote them out of office. There should never be a state income tax in Texas. While you're at it, get rid of the "unelected" Property Appraisal Districts and make the politicians raise property taxes so we can vote their butts out when they try it.

Firing the appraiser is like shooting the messenger. Property taxes are high because of demand. Create more revenue other ways. Fund education properly and cities won’t have to raise property taxes.

Where does the extra money go? 10% a year for 5 years.... I didn't see my income go up 10% per year, did you? State income tax, no property tax

As long as there are property taxes, NO ONE WILL EVER OWN PROPERTY IN TEXAS. We only get to rent it from any number of taxing entities.

Agreed. We need a State income tax and remove the shell game of property tax (where no one knows where that money actually goes) Taxes should be based on income. My taxes are almost as much as my mortgage payment

Will, we kind of need taxes to pay for things. What would you suggest if No Property Taxes nor State Income Tax? I would gladly drop property for state.

Property tax is filthy feudalism and should be outright abolished.

I say back off of property taxes 10% a year and increase consumption taxes! We have way too many people living in the shadows and demanding services from the State and local entities that are funded primarily by property owners! Let’s level the playing field!

I would love to know where the 10% per year increase in property taxes goes. It's impossible to tell because it is purposely ambiguous. Rather have a state income tax that is based upon your salary.

Every year my property taxes go up, and if I go protest I get a "pat on the head" and a denied protest. Harris County is very greedy.

That is a good FIRST step. Now it’s way past time to enact true property tax reform that will actually LOWER these outrageous and oppressive property tax rates. Did anyone say dramatic budget cuts..... #EarnThatVote

Yeah, talk about unintended.m consequences. Property tax is an issue for Texans, but some dipshit with an R beside their name running on empty promises of eliminating or reducing property taxes is not the answer.
