There’s a lot of West Texas common sense in this Editorial.http://www.lubbockonline.com/opinion/20180809/editorial-socialism-is-not-free-college-education …

No socialism is bailing out "farmers" who can't make it when trump imposes tariffs. Or giving welfare to rich people with special tax breaks in the #taxscam.

When the idea is from the bottom up and taxes are used for the right purposes, it works just fine. Everyone has equal opportunity without needing to be independently wealthy.

Exactly. Trickle down economics will never work. These politicians rig the system to enrich their donors, who then write a hefty campaign check, which then allows legislation to be written in their favor.

No one is rooting for all out socialism, it’s a lie to say otherwise. We all benefit from social programs and Americans and Texans just want our blessings to help people. Since we already do that a lot people just want to expand on it.

A well regulated capitalist system is much preferable, well regulated meaning not favoring the 1% however what we have now is a complete sham

A newspaper that doesn't know what its talking about quotes a Governor who doesn't know what he's talking about: what passes for journalism in Texas. The GOP is so afraid of people continuing the work of FDR that they resort to citing a horse's ass like Greg the Fake Christian.

A government that cares about the success of all it's citizens is based on compassion. Our current system favors the powerful & enriches the politicians that protect the wealthy. You've sold TX to the highest bidder & it's cost us a clean gulf, funded ed, & affordable health care
