It’s no surprise the most successful cities in Texas effectively manage their budgets. Let’s all work together for real reform.

I’m with you Mayor!

Thank you Governor. We are so excited to provide additional tax relief to our residents again this year. I look forward to being part of the discussion to set the model for the state. Please let me know how I can help.

You and the rest of the Republican legislators are pretending when it comes to caring about property tax relief. Don’t pretend that you are when you and the GOP has done nothing for years.
-
You have no idea what high taxes are. Come live in CT and will find out fast how cheap it is to live in the great state of Texas

Governor, you should give Mayor
@laurakhill0404 a call as well... under her leadership, Southlake has been at 20% homestead exemption for two budget cycles now! -
Southlake is a wealthy community. What works there, won’t work everywhere. The real solution is to have the state significantly boost funding for schools.
-
Every city is different, and yes school finance reform is an integral piece of addressing skyrocketing prop taxes. Point is, state leaders should invite successful cities like Southlake and Frisco to the table to help craft solutions, not give us “one size fits all” mandates
-
Not sure how you'd decide which cities are "successful" and which aren't. I do think that getting inputs from a diverse cross-section of Texas counties, cities, school districts, etc. is a great idea.
-
Success is about finding what works for your community.
#onesizedoesnotfitall time to talk about what different cities all around texas are doing to give city tax relief & what more can be done.@CityofSouthlake I’m always looking to others for new/better ideas -
EXACTLY! Which is why I’m opposed to Abbott’s attempts to micro-manage every taxing district in the state. BUT - he COULD have a direct, positive impact, by increasing state funding for education.

Do more to control the increases that the tax assessors can do, 10% year over year increases is not helped by modest exemptions.

Thanks Governor. This is a big deal for older residents. I know we are seeing great growth, but some of the originals are getting HEAVILY property taxed.

Your policies are insane and unsustainable. Smart public policy involves rewarding citizens by reinvesting into their community with social services, public education, emergency services & infrastructure improvements. Not robbing the most vulnerable citizens to gift the wealthy.
