As a teacher you should know to actually read a proposal before judging it. The Plan doesn’t mandate arming teachers. It provides funds to schools that choose the School Marshal Plan. That plan doesn’t force teachers to be armed. Non-teacher personnel can be Marshals.https://twitter.com/noelcandelaria/status/1001904499743653888 …

I object to Gov. Greg Abbott’s proposal to arm more teachers... Teachers are trained to teach and to nurture, not double up as security guards. #TxEd #TxLege #Enough #EndGunViolence #TeamTSTA #SafeSchools https://twitter.com/txstateteachers/status/1001897561849024513 …

I still wish we could focus on the why of the shootings. When I was in high school, there were rifles in the gun racks of almost all pick up truck in the parking lot. Not once was one used to harm anything other than what the guys were hunting before or after school.

Better proposal - common sense gun control that the majority of people support, and use these funds that magically appeared to pay for the resources we need and the raises we deserve.

That would be a better proposal... If Gun Control workes, which it doesn't. We had every law already in place to stop Parkland, but it was the Police and FBI's failure to act that let it happen.

Gun control doesn't work anywhere, those with criminal intent still get all the guns they want while only the law-abiding citizens are disarmed. Gun crimes are increasing even in relatively gun-free places like the UK to the point where the police now want guns, see France too

“Increasing” does not mean they are anywhere close to the levels of death we have here.

It does show that gun control doesn't work to keep guns from those who want them for criminal activity. Mexico & Brazil have total gun bans on possession for civilians, yet their gun crime rtes are among the highest in the world. #GunControlFails

Baptist Churches are doing the same thing; arming specific people, like off-duty police, security guards, or experienced Sunday School Teachers, to be concealed carry designated personnel to protect the church and parking lots. No one is forced to do it, they readily volunteer.

That's like saying Galileo couldn't be an heliocentrist and a Christian. He wasn't vindicated until 1992. The best Christians I've known have all been Freemasons, even though Masonry is not a religion but encourages attendance of your own church. http://www.msana.com/religion.asp
