Equity in access to healthcare is a community expectation in Australia. - as it should be. I agree that a US-style health system would be a catastrophe here. The key players are poised to work with to sort this out and we come to the task in good faith. Let's go.

If doctors can't afford to bulk bill, we don't have universal healthcare. Simple as that. This government has a choice: fund universal healthcare, or let Australia become a user-pays, health-for-the-wealthy system like we see in the USA.

After 9 years of inaction, a Climate Bill has passed the House. But the work to stop Labor’s new coal & gas continues. Our communities need a safe climate future.

This is cruel and inhumane. Iranian refugee Ned has been locked up for ten years, without having committed a crime. We should be looking after refugees, not locking them up. He must be released - & all indefinite detention must end.

Last night our PM spoke of the “devastating economic impacts” of saying no to new coal and gas. I’d say $39b in annual losses from climate change by 2050, complete with chronic hits to our food supply chain, are a devastating economic impact as well?

What a team! They're ready to seize the opportunity to make the big changes we need, and push the next government to deliver on climate, integrity and inequality. Let's go!

It's becoming clearer that because of our "marketised" electricity system, both private and publicly-owned coal generators are chasing profits instead of supplying an essential service and transitioning to 100% clean energy.

Queenslanders are facing blackouts after coal-fired generators lowered output because they won't make as much money with a price cap in place. "As a consequence of the administered price cap in Queensland, AEMO has seen generation bids reduce," .@AEMO_Energy said.

As a retail worker, Stephen Bates will be a voice in Parliament for all people who work in precarious employment. He’ll fight for action on job insecurity and to lift the minimum wage.

Thank you to every single person who made this win possible. Hundreds of volunteers donated thousands of hours of their lives in hope of a better future. It takes a village to win an election and I am honoured and humbled to have been elected as the next Member for Brisbane.
