Here and there in the universe a long time from now, The Flag of Earth will whisper of a planet Where you once could stand naked under a warm sun.

Focus on the problem, not the solution of an app which sounds cool. The Iowa Democratic Party shouldn’t have asked for an app. The media shouldn’t have hailed it as futuristic, we shouldn’t demand immediate electoral results, and shadow shouldn’t have tried to build it.

There needs to be much more money in order to sustain things. The Obama and Clinton campaigns spent tens (maybe hundreds) of millions of dollars on tech but it was building tech which was mostly thrown away.

Update on tonight’s action: We, students of Yale Law School, will not work for you as long as you work for Exxon. Our future is on fire, and you are fanning the flames. If you care about humanity, then drop Exxon and join us in fighting for a livable future.”

It wouldn’t surprise me. We are all just the prey of the multinational corporations, who make their profit from externalizing costs onto everyone (some more than others). Feeling like prey all the time is very stressful. It’s not natural for humans - we are not rabbits.

Thrilling to see Yale Law School students protesting Exxon’s legal enablers! Excited for the next few years, when some of these Yale law grads will prosecute Exxon executives for crimes against humanity

What if climate sensitivity to carbon is higher than we thought? “We hope it’s not the right answer.” Well, that's reassuring.

Exactly. And just to clarify: socialist democracies like in Scandinavia are not “socialist” per se. These are capitalist societies (Stockholm is the start up capital of the world) but with strong social programs. Very simple. Though when we privatized post and pharmacies...

This part really got me: The pols had to ask all their questions first, which took maybe 5 minutes, and then all the witnesses got to answer all of them, which took 20 minutes. The experts did the talking and the pols did the hearing. Is that how these things got their name? 7

I just see it as, basically, the opposite of the traffic light signage approach. Serving bad food and putting a sign on it saying "you shouldn't eat this" is just dumb. Design choices like these, to me, are the opposite end of that spectrum.

Question: how can LA policymakers reduce traffic, pollution, and housing costs? Answer: stop forcing apartments and stores to build parking. My op-ed in today's has more:

Here's what I wish for Rush Limbaugh: I sincerely hope they cure his cancer. I do. And it costs him every penny he has. I hope the cure bankrupts him and buries him under a mountain of debt he can never dig out of. Maybe THEN, he'll finally use his voice to help others.

Working late into the night on my data science project for corals. Really kind of feeling like "what's the point" though. Poor innocent reefs. 💔 I'm working as hard as I can y'all, but it's so not enough. We need a billion climate activists.

I genuinely don't understand the conspiracy theories about Iowa. If this was a DNC scheme to boost moderates, why would they delay the initial vote showing a Buttiegieg lead? If they rigged it, why would Biden be a distant fourth? Also, uh, the DNC doesn't run the caucuses.
