    Michael Collins, the primary pilot of the 3 man crew (Collins, Armstrong, Aldrin) who first went to the moon with Apollo 11 in 1969, has died of cancer at the age of 90. He was also founding director of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.

    "Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty" (Thomas Jefferson). True and very applicable today... but the larger problem in America may be that only a small minority of citizens can define "despotism" or "tempestuous"... or even "timid".
