Everyone has to step up and work harder: “The call to faster climate action is to all who can contribute knowledge, momentum, or passion to drive the quick embrace of effective solutions.”

The pace of sea level rise accelerated at nearly all measurement stations along the US coastline in 2019, with scientists warning some of the bleakest scenarios for inundation and flooding are steadily becoming more likely.

  10. Worst case is still possible... need to make sure it doesn’t happen, and that means working hard and also making sure the right leaders get elected. No time for complacency.

Analysis by Trump’s own administration shows that the rollback of clean car standards will 1) cost consumers more in the long-run and 2) not make cars any more safe. So why is he doing this again? (hint: it has to do with fossil fuel lobbyists)

    Poništi
  13. This makes no sense given the higher costs to consumers, the higher toxic air pollution and the elevated climate change, but this is what the GOP - including the current White House wants to expand. It ain’t over until it’s over when it comes to crazy bad emission scenarios.

  14. I hope we don’t get the fossil fuel build out that the GOP seems hellbent on achieving...

Gas generation will increase grid carbon emissions more than it decreases them in 2019. The grid reaches the tipping point in 2019 where gas causes more carbon pollution than it avoids! Why? Combination of less coal to avoid and gas replacing nuclear.

Same thing, supercharged by global warming is happening now: “greater subsurface [ocean] warming induced by the longer period of reduced AMOC during the penultimate deglaciation can explain the more-rapid sea-level rise compared with the last deglaciation”

Don’t know the Iowa results yet, but CNN entrance polling indicates 20% of Iowans caucusing indicated climate change is the issue they are most concerned about. Don’t like the steady uptick in flooding, perhaps?

Hazardous level of smoke about in the north of Canberra this morning. Schools holding outdoor assemblies. Hundreds of little ones outside being exposed to dangerous health conditions. This isn’t good enough, ; principals aren’t equipped to be making the call on this.
