The student loan debt crisis didn't happen by accident. States invested less in public college students and shifted the burden onto them and their families. So while I paid $50 a semester, today's students are graduating with thousands of dollars of debt.

You clearly have no idea how universities work or how little most faculty are paid.

I’m aware that most faculty don’t make that kind of money. But Elizabeth Warren did. That was my only point.

Most professors teach 2 to 4 classes per semester and earn a quarter of that, but OK.pic.twitter.com/ysDYzS89p1

I love this idea that your average university prof is like millionaire adjacent. If I taught at my Alana mater right now I would actually be taking a pay cut.

It's the school's management and endowments that is syphoning all the money out. Mrs Warren's plan feeds the big fish. Why do colleges need 40b dollar endowments?? Why do they need libraries and cafeteria built out of marble??

What are you on? I taught ten classes a year at a university level and could barely afford rent, utilities and groceries! I made less than any relative! For little $ we worked day, night, weekends, never slept, got sick. A colleague of mine collapsed and died in the parking lot!

The only people making $400k at public universities are football and basketball coaches.
