In Canada you get a full year, just at a reduced salary - so 52 weeks for the birth of a child.
-
I hate that the salary is reduced. Like wtf are people supposed to do? Cost of living doesn't decrease with the salary decrease. What you save in gas money, etc is offset by baby supplies, unless there's a universal program I don't know about.

Norway also has for both genders, dont know about the other coutries but many only have maternal leave
-
Note that i meant for both parents, regardless of gender identity, If you identify as some else than male or female thats fine with me

Paid family leave should be for everyone having a child. But as well as that, declining birth rate is good for the planet. We need a few billion fewer humans ASAP. Best way is to support poor nations. Financial security = low birth rates. We got rich on their labour. Payback time

I absolutely agree with you, but I just wanted to tell you Canadians actually get way more than that. I got 38 weeks.
-
For sure, this analysis is just including the federally mandated numbers.

“Being able to spend that time with my kids” shouldn’t be a sentence anyone has to say, you should never have to work if you have a newborn.
