11/ By 2040, zero-emission sales targets would reduce carbon emissions from trucks by about 9 million tonnes a year. In the meantime, the government should impose technology standards to reduce emissions from diesel trucks.

10/ To help Australia meet this target, the federal government should impose binding sales targets for zero-emissions trucks, starting at 2% in 2024 and gradually increasing to cover most new sales by 2040.

7/ And while some might argue that we can simply put more freight on rail, trucks are here to stay. There are so many things which simply can’t be transported to their final destination on rail – like supermarket deliveries, construction materials, and medical supplies.
