This was long overdue and we decided to get it done in anticipation of pushing out our new releases based on Android 11 via the Stable channel. Since there are so many changes from past release based on Android 10, bandwidth usage for the major upgrade is going to be far higher.
We generate delta updates for upgrades from the previous Stable channel release to the current release. This means only the binary level differences between the firmware and OS images need to be downloaded. This saves a ton of bandwidth and a major update is a lot more demanding.
