The https://attestation.app/ service now compares usernames without case sensitivity to improve usability. Case sensitive usernames were a significant usability issue causing a support burden. It will still remember the capitalization chosen when creating/renaming an account.

There were 4 pairs of accounts with duplicate usernames under the new rules. In one case, both were unused. For the other 3, one was inactive and the other active with the same device models paired and matching alert emails. Ended up just being able to delete the few duplicates.

Usernames were already limited to the Latin alphabet and Arabic numerals. It's unlikely we'll expand it.
