The 1st generation Pixel and Pixel XL are supported again by the development branch of GrapheneOS. These are considered legacy devices and are being added due to historical support for them by the project. They don't meet all of the current minimum security standards for devices.
Device-specific hardening will be a substantial portion of the project and legacy devices won't get most of that. They're starting far behind already. For now, they also won't be nearly as well tested. It's a lower priority so they'll often receive releases a day or two late too.
