Enjoyable line from Mel Stride at his lobby lunch. Recalls Ted Heath on one occasion being asked to give a five minute speech on his career. Heath: “Five minutes? How can I possibly sum up my life’s achievements in five minutes?” Heckle from the back: “Talk very, very slowly”

I think the reason I’m esp sad about Barry Humphries and Paul O’Grady passing is they represent a time when people could enjoy tv of its kind without it being part of the exhausting never ending culture war.

Sending my best wishes to Barry Humphries. Barry's timing has always been astonishing. Here's Dame Edna Everage effortlessly turning Martin Sheen into a giggling mess. Get well soon, Barry.

I will never forget after breakfast one morning, Barry Humphries started telling a long story about the time he met an old Nazi officer who had worked with Hitler. Barry said it was then that he received the worst compliment of his life: “The Fuhrer, he would have loved you.”

Utterly heartbroken about Barry Humphries. He was simply the best. I had the enormous pleasure to spend a weekend in his company last year, and I’ve not stopped telling stories about it since. My thoughts are with his darling Lizzie. ❤️

I had a bit of a ding-dong defending Greggs right to serve a sausage roll after 11pm! Things got flaky...

“You can get a Turkish kebab at midnight, you can get an Indian, a Chinese, why not a good Great British sausage roll?" Nickie Aiken and Grant Tucker battle it out over whether it’s right for @GreggsOfficial to be banned from selling late night snacks in Leicester Square.

I left a theatre near Leicester Square at 10.30pm the other night and struggled to find anywhere serving food. Pathetic for a capital city. A political culture which views people enjoying themselves as something suspicious to be discouraged.

Is every police officer in Glasgow turning up just to have nose round Sturgeon’s house?! Seems like it.

Good, more qualified people should more regularly whinge about council finances, most of which are a complete disaster zone

Few entertainers have the range of Paul O’Grady. As foulmouthed, poison-heartedly hilarious Lily Savage, he was countless Brits’ first drag queen. As a dog-loving TV host he was your gran’s favourite celebrity, normalising homosexuality in living rooms up and down the country.

What a fucking life led. Truly. Back when the Met stormed into the RVT for it being a gay bar, all wearing rubber gloves to “protect” themselves during the HIV crisis, Paul O’Grady was on stage as Lily and immediately quipped “Looks like we have help with the washing up!” Iconic.

When we worked together at Ch4, Paul O’Grady insisted that new roles on his show were advertised in the local Job Centre. He wanted anyone and everyone to be able to apply so they could get a break like he had. And it made the show better. A kind and generous man.

I had the honour of judging this category this year. It was a very robust jury discussion and I am beyond delighted at our winner. Kit’s beautiful performance moved so many people. ❤️
