@GrantTheAnt Any thoughts on allowing observers to change player colors in game without revealing starting locations to players?

You mean something different than hitting shift-tab?

The understanding that was communicated to me is that changing colors with Shift-tab can players in game to see starting locations. If that is not the case then I apologize for the confusion.

We added something recently to force red vs blue in 1v1 for all players to try to avoid situations like brown on gold rush/skull desert and the recent yellow/orange game you cast. However, it had issues like you mentioned, so we reverted it.

No problem! I am curious as to why obs don't switch to red blue with shift tab during those kinds of matches. Maybe

Tournament matches are normally played on Use Map Settings for "Observer" maps, or just so they dont count towards score. UMS maps put all players on one team "Players" and so Shift+Tab treats them as such, and makes them both red/blue instead of red AND blue.

Makes sense. Though with the new obs mode, top vs bottom should work just as well, and would allow the shift tab.
