Let's be real: the outrage mob didn't go after Kevin Williamson because of one glib comment, they went after him because he's right-of-center and they consider the Atlantic their own, my Monday @nypost column:https://nypost.com/2018/04/08/kevin-williamson-firing-shows-the-nonpartisan-medias-true-colors/ …

It wasn’t “one glib comment”. He doubled down when given the opportunity to clarify. Don’t think he deserves to be fired over it, but even though The Atlantic didn’t do their due diligence, at end of the day, it’s their forum.

In the podcast he clarified this as his position: https://twitter.com/bernybelvedere/status/983024503675645952 … Not quite the "hang 25% of women" his detractors were claiming.

He said what he said: “I would totally go with treating (abortion) like any other crime up to and including hanging."

He did NOT say he would retroactively try to hang women who had abortions. But he clearly is OK with the death penalty going forward.

I didn't take him to mean that. Again, he wrote about so many different topics, including abortion, but never included anything like that in his pieces. Why not?

A stupid tweet is understandable. But he had a chance to clarify his position, and chose to double down on hanging. He said what he said.
