Good speeches tend to live on for a while. If speak your truth is going to live on for a while, I'm going to do everything I can to squash it
Because the phrase "speak your truth" does convey the meaning "share your experience".

We all use idioms. Taking a phrase out of context and demanding that it be interpreted in a literal fashion is absurd.

“Tell your story” sounds like it could be a novel or something. “Speak your truth” implies that the listener should default to believing people who live different experiences (race, sex, social class, etc) than they do. (My interpretation, anyway.)

Also, a story is more like an anecdote. “Speak your truth” is about larger factors, like institutional racism or rampant sexism, that are a constant aspect of day-to-day reality for many people.
