Yes, I know. I'm making only the narrow point that he might not have been talking about felon disenfranchisement specifically. It's equally despicable either way, obv. (And, FWIW, I favor automatic restoration of voting rights at end of sentence.)

Whether he was speaking specifically about the felon disenfranchisement clause, or the broader group of racially discriminatory provisions (which included felon disenfranchisement) doesn't really change the gist of his comment.
