Seems like they've just released pcts of the vote. Isn't delegate counts the only thing that matters?

Delegate counts translate into national delegates. Bernie wanted raw vote counts added because the caucus system can “waste” pockets of excess voters. For example, Candidate A might have 50 votes and Candidate B 25 votes, but both end up with one delegate.

In other words someone could win the raw vote count but end up with fewer delegates. It's like the electoral college. Win the popular vote but lose the election.

Yes, you could win the popular vote and lose the delegate count. But the caucuses are about organizing across all precincts to maximize delegates. Supporters of Candidate A often move to Candidate B to make them viable and deprive Candidate C of an extra delegate.

Similarly, the second round carries a bit of ranked preference voting with second choice candidates picking up votes. But voters often choose based on depriving rivals of delegates. So you need to think about what’s being measured. Vote totals aren’t the same as in a primary.

Are there classes in all Iowa high schools as to how this works so you all know how to work to system to both vote for the person you like and screw the person you hate the most? Seems like you need such a course to graduate.

I grew up out of state. But most candidates have a captain at each precinct with instructions on how to drive voters to/from non-viable candidates.

I've been talking to people here in Nevada who want me to be a precinct captain for Mayor Pete. I've never even caucused before. After watching this mess it makes me even less likely to want to get involved.

Do it! It’s actually a fun way to meet neighbors and chat with them. Candidates will have detailed instructions for you. Democracy in action!pic.twitter.com/gerfCK76cu

I would love to get involved but I don't feel strongly enough about Pete to want to take that position. I've flirted with various candidates as my #1 choice. I was Pete for a while, then Biden, and currently I'm supporting Bernie.
