Quick PSA: if you want to be treated like a person on Twitter: be a person. If you can’t operate under your real face and name and your timeline is full of nothing but aggro criticism - don’t expect to be treated like much more than noise.

True. And a hilarious joke. But that doesn’t change the fact that noms de plume are important for people who have a legitimate need to protect their identity, whether because of fear of repercussions for employment or harassment or worse.
