Sure, the attorneys profit. But for many applicants, getting a couple hundred dollars does matter. And the key issue you don’t address is deterrence—if colleges have to give back a few million (plus pay attorneys), they’ll think twice before perpetuating the scam.

I would fall over dead if class action participants received more than $50. And sadly, I don’t see that as a deterrent to schools. Obviously cynical person in this thread. Again, doubt people who were impacted were poor. Going through college application process right now with
