This THREAD details how I believe I was scammed by the @Hertz rental car company, and why I'll never do business with them again.

On July 25th I rented a car (to be used Nov. 1-3), and paid in advance for it to get a lower daily rate. Getting a lower daily rate by paying in advance is commonplace, as evidence by the screenshot from their website below: 2/pic.twitter.com/EUGzpHnGgV

Below is my emailed receipt from July 25. Note the daily rate of $72.51 and the 'Rate Code' of "VCPD1" 3/pic.twitter.com/8HzfXIlPpk

On Nov. 3rd I turned the car in, no problems. The person did not give me a receipt. So imagine my surprise when I get another bill for $195.61! I look at my new emailed receipt, & it has a completely different daily rate ($129.43). Note the same daily rate code & reservation #.pic.twitter.com/EP5IgXs10B

After spending a lifetime on hold, I finally give my info to a representative. More time spent on hold. He finally comes back and tells me he'll have to look into the matter further and he'll call me back. 5/

Later that day someone else from Hertz calls back and leaves a voice message, saying there's nothing they can do. So I've filed a dispute through my credit card company. Charging a different daily rate when I've already paid in advance for a lower rate seems fraudulent to me.

And this is probably legal (but it shouldn't be, imo): Because I dropped the car off 1 hour past 48 hours, they charged me for that extra hour. That rate was $44.01 per hour! That's 816% higher than the daily rate! Highway robbery.
